About the units
Temperature units explained
Unlike other units, temperature scales don't start at the same zero, so you can't just multiply. Celsius and Fahrenheit differ in both size and starting point: a change of 1 °C is a change of 1.8 °F, and 0 °C is 32 °F.
Kelvin, the scientific scale, uses the same step size as Celsius but starts at absolute zero, the coldest possible temperature: 0 K is −273.15 °C.

Is there a quick way to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit in my head?
Double the Celsius value and add 30. It is close for everyday temperatures: 20 °C gives 70 °F (actual 68 °F).
At what temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit equal?
At −40. Minus 40 °C is exactly minus 40 °F.
